All signs suggest that new silent Hill plans are afoot, with several stories and leaks emerging over the past week indicating that several different entries in the franchise are in development. The franchise has been dormant since 2012 Silent Hill Downpouras well as the derived title Silent Hill: Book of Memories released the same year. It’s been so long since the new silent Hill games were released as these entries were released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation Vita, respectively.
Now, according to a report from VGC, Konami plans to bring silent Hill back with talks of a remake of one of the series’ most well-received games, Silent Hill 2. This follows a tweet from journalist Jeff Grubb who made a similar report.
The remake of Silent Hill 2 would be developed by Bloober Team, which has developed games like The way and Observer in the old days.
It’s not the only game that could come in the future, however. Konami would be in talks with several developers to bring more novelties silent Hill offerings to life. This includes Outer Wildlands publisher Annapurna Interactive. Although it’s unclear which developer is currently involved in a new silent Hill project, if at all, it looks like Konami is certainly interested in reviving the franchise.
This is only backed up by leaked images believed to be from a new silent Hill game, whose Eurogamer ratings have been removed due to a copyright claim. The footage was leaked to Twitter late last week by an account called AestheticGamer1 and is apparently from 2020. different, or entirely abandoned, at this point. indicate. Still, the fact that a copyright claim has been filed over the leaked images only makes the leak more interesting.
It’s entirely possible that Konami is planning a big reveal of the next silent Hill titles in the near future, especially with so much news surrounding the series breaking out over the past few months. While there’s technically no E3 scheduled for 2022, there are still plenty of digital showcases scheduled for the summer where such a reveal could take place.
