The Microsoft Authenticator app for iOS offers some handy new account setup features. The latest update available to beta testers through TestFlight adds the ability to change your Microsoft account password, update security information, and view recent activity on your account. All three options allow you to accomplish tasks that would otherwise require accessing your account dashboard in a browser.
“The Microsoft Authenticator app keeps you up to date with what’s going on with your account, by sending security notifications to your personal Microsoft account, making it easy for you to manage your account,” Microsoft said in a statement. Technical community publication announcing new features. “This update gives you even more options.”
Tapping on your accounts will now expand them to a full screen view where you can see more options for the account you selected. This full screen view is where you’ll see things like you’ve enabled phone sign-in, your one-time passcode, and the new account options.
For now, Microsoft says these account settings are only available for personal Microsoft accounts. “We’re also working to make them available for Azure AD, but before we enable them, we want to make sure that IT admins can choose the options available in the app,” Microsoft says. There is no timeline on when Azure AD support can be added.
These new features are currently only available to beta testers through the TestFlight program. However, they should be available to all Microsoft Authenticator users in the coming weeks.
