Podcast host Bob Menery strongly denies setting Colby Covington in an ambush by Jorge Masvidal.
Last week, Covington was allegedly ambushed by friend-turned-foe Jorge Masvidal outside a Miami restaurant. There aren’t many people who can give a detailed account of what happened. Indeed, there are only three people we know of who can share precisely what happened.
An eyewitness has shared his version of events, Covington has yet to come out publicly with what happened, and then there’s someone else who is able to share the details of what happened. spent that night: Bob Menery.
After all, it was Menery who was found outside with Covington immediately after the alleged attack. And it is Menery who is accused by his own FULL SEND PODCAST co-host Kyle Forgeard of setting up Covington to be ambushed by Masvidal.
In an appearance on Bradley Martyn’s raw speech podcastMenery gave his account of exactly what happened outside the Papi Steak Restaurant that fateful night in Miami and asked whether or not he played a role in it as an accused.
“I was focused as the guy who put it together, which is the most comedic thing in the world,” Menery began. “For everyone who knows me and why I have such great relationships and so on, I try to take pride in being a respectful guy who would never do anything like this for clickbait.
“I don’t give a fuck about this shit. I will let Kyle [Forgeard] or whoever wants to do this shit do this shit. But I was pinned as this guy because the infamous little TMZ video that came out shows me, cops all around Colby, and then shows me walking towards him and saying, “My bad.”
Menery says the “poor” apology to Covington was because the alleged ambush took place on his watch. Menery also explained to listeners what happened once he and Covington left the restaurant.
Bob Menery details Masvidal’s alleged ambush on Covington
Similar to the eyewitness account, Menery claims that immediately after he and Covington exited the restaurant, Jorge Masvidal appeared out of nowhere and punched Covington repeatedly. Menery claims there was no warning or conversation before the sudden attack.
Menery was unsure of the number of other people with Masvidal, but he corroborated the victim’s account on the police report that Masvidal was not alone. However, Menery suggested there was no conversation prior to the attack, while the victim’s account in the police report indicates that Masvidal said something along the lines of “You shouldn’t have talk about my children” just before the attack.
Menery admitted to having had several drinks before the alleged incident, so his memory of that night is not exceptionally lucid. He also may have simply meant that there was no real warning or two-way dialogue before the attack, not necessarily that Masvidal said nothing at all.
Menery said that when Covington retreated inside the restaurant after Masvidal’s beating, he impulsively stood in front of Masvidal and asked what he was doing, prompting “Gamebred” to scream in his face. This, according to Menery, intimidated him enough and led him to quickly assure Masvidal that he didn’t want any trouble.
A very important update that Menery shared is that shortly before appearing on this podcast, he spoke to Covington and asked him to drop the charges against Masvidal.
Menery said he wasn’t sure if Covington would take his advice. As such, the charges against Masvidal of second-degree grievous bodily harm and criminal mischief currently remain, and the UFC superstar is still scheduled to appear in court next month.
What Menery knows, he says, is that whatever the rumors or Forgeard’s accusation, it has nothing to do with Masvidal making the jump on Covington.
“At the end of the day, people say ‘I read it on Twitter’ and shit, all that shit bothers me. Like, oh, the Nelk Boys framed it, let me tell you what. Kyle and all the others, they pull a lot of pranks and so on. When I’m involved, none of that happens on my watch. Because my reputation is too important to me and I never want to be tied to that. And that’s That’s why I was so angry that night.
