The Automaton is a deadly assault rifle in CoD Vanguard that’s perfect for shredding opponents at medium range. Here’s an optimal loading setup to help you get the most out of this deadly fully automatic weapon.
When it comes to choosing an AR in Vanguard, it’s important that the weapon has a solid TTK, damage range, and a manageable recoil pattern.
Of course, with so many options to choose from, this can be a tricky combination to find, but a few weapons start to stand out from the crowd after the game is released.
One of them is the Automaton, a fully automatic AR that melts enemies at medium range and is capable of taking out multiple opponents in a single magazine.
However, to get the most out of the weapon you need top notch gear that pushes the weapon to its limit and luckily we have you covered.

- Muzzle: G28 compensator
- Barrel: Zac 600mm BFA
- Optical: Slate reflector
- Store: Skeletal Zac
- Sub-barrel: Sculptor’s wrist
- Magazine: 6.5mm Sakura 45 Rnd
- Ammunition type: Subsonic
- Rear handle: Rubber grip
- Skill: Frenzy
- Case: Surplus
First, you’ll want to use the G28 compensator in the muzzle slot to strengthen the vertical recoil pattern of the automaton without introducing other disadvantages. This paired with the Zac 600mm BFA The cannon turns the AR into a laser beam, preventing you from missing mid-range shots.
Then use the Skeletal Zac stock to increase your objective’s movement speed and stability, making it easy to peek around corners and take out enemies in an instant. While this comes at the expense of some hip shooting accuracy, this is offset by the Sculptor’s wrist under the barrel which improves hip fire and overall recoil control.
After that, be sure to equip the 6.5mm Sakura 45 Rnd magazine so you can eliminate multiple opponents in one clip. There’s nothing worse than running out of bullets in the middle of a fight and while increasing your magazine size comes at the cost of some ADS speed, it’s well worth it.
Clear optics are absolutely essential if you want to land your shots, so we recommend the Slate reflector, a perfect spectacle for medium-distance encounters. However, keep in mind that the optics are all up to your preferences, so don’t be afraid to experiment and find the one that matches your playstyle.
The Automaton lacks mobility but is perfect for players looking to maintain a position.
As for the type of ammo you’ll want to run Subsonic to avoid revealing your location on the minimap. Since the Automaton isn’t the most mobile weapon, you won’t run around the map like an SMG, so keeping your location hidden is very important.
Keep in mind that the Automaton has a large recoil pattern, so don’t forget to add the Rubber grip to your loading. This rear grip attachment offers increased recoil control without any negative effects, unlike many other options for the weapon.
Finally, end the course with the Frenzy Skill to increase life theft after murders and Surplus kit to help you gain more XP in your matches.
Best Class Automaton Vanguard (Benefits, Equipment and Field Upgrade)
The Automaton lacks mobility, but you can compensate for that with your perk choices.
- Advantage 1: Ghost
- Advantage 2: Radar
- Advantage 3: Double time
- Secondary: Submachine gun
- Deadly: Gammon Bomb
- Tactical: Stimulate
- Field upgrade: Armor
As for the perks in Vanguard, there seem to be three choices that the majority of loadouts use because they combine so well together. These are Ghost not be detected on enemy radars, Double time for the massive increase in mobility, and of course Radar, so you can follow all opponents who do not use silent weapons.
For secondary, be sure to run the Submachine gun so you always have a close alternative if necessary. While you rarely need to use this weapon, it helps to have a backup just in case your primary runs out of bullets.
CoD Vanguard launched on November 5.
While lethal and tactical choices aren’t the most important aspects of a loadout, they can help you get out of a tough spot and make extra kills. So be sure to run the Gammon Bomb for an instant explosive that can clean a room, and the Stimulate to improve your health after a close-range shootout.
Complete the upload with the Armor Level up on the field, as absorbing a few more bullets can be the difference between taking you down or eliminating your opponent.
This is a comprehensive look at our optimal loading of automata into Vanguard, but as fixes come and go, the meta build is likely to change over time.
Rest assured, we’ll keep this loadout up to date with the latest accessories and optimal gear with every Vanguard update.
