This week’s Valero Texas Open 2022 is the last PGA Tour event before the Masters and the start of the major season. Appropriately, two multiple winners have the best chance of lifting the trophy, according to Valero Texas Open odds via BetMGM. Here’s what you need to know.
Valero Texas Open 2022 Odds: This Week’s Favorites
Despite Masters week lurking just days away, several top pros are heading into the Valero Texas Open. Among them is four-time major champion Rory McIlroy, who hopes to build momentum for another career Grand Slam shot next Sunday. Ranked 9th in the world, McIlroy is the highest-ranked player on the pitch, and he’s also the betting favorite with +800.
Meanwhile, defending champion Jordan Spieth is a somewhat distant second (+1400) mainly due to his struggles in recent weeks. Interestingly, at the time of this writing, the three-time major champion has exactly the same odds of winning the Masters (+1400).
Another player to watch is Corey Conners (+1800). The 30-year-old Canadian professional earned his lone PGA Tour victory at the 2019 Texas Open. He’s been haunting the rankings all year and last week he finished 3rd in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play .
Valero Texas Open 2022 Odds: Long Shot of the Week
Of course, the Valero is the pros’ last chance to earn a spot in the Masters, either through a win or by sneaking into the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings. A big champion playing this week who doesn’t yet have a ticket to Augusta is Jimmy Walker. The 2016 PGA Champion has struggled in recent years, earning him his strong chance of earning +20,000 this week.
But Walker is undoubtedly hungry for another major shot at glory, adding further incentive to his quest this week. Best of all, he’s a former Texas Open champion, having won the 2015 edition beating none other than a young Spieth for his fifth of six career Tour titles. If you entrust Walker with $100 to win this week and he succeeds, you will end up $20,000 richer.
